This is the least coverage the law requires. It often isn’t enough to pay for a serious accident, and anything above your limits can come out of your own pocket.

These state-established programs cover homes that private insurers won’t. They’re meant as a last resort: coverage is often more limited and can cost more, so shop the private market and ask an agent first. Eligibility rules vary.

Basic dwelling fire coverage for homes and mobile homes, paid at actual cash value. It doesn’t include liability or cover vacant homes.
